Our Story

Elizabeth’s Side:
Online dating can be a full time job, so timely message replies was not my gift. Chris and I matched in March of 2021, and we (I) sporadically messaged back and forth for a few months, with planned meet ups often falling through. One night in May, something told me to give it a try, so I told Chris I was free the next night to hang out, and then I went to bed. The next day (Friday, May 21), I went about my normal work day, and forgot to check to see if he had replied until my drive home (around 7pm). Sure enough, he said he was free, so I checked to see if he still wanted to hang out, and he said YES! So I hurried home to get ready, and met him at El Tiempo on Washington Ave. He had a seat saved for me at the bar, and I was in awe of how much cuter he was in person! We had the best conversation, and I felt an instant connection. It wasn’t until we got up to leave that I realized how TALL he was (6’-6” or 13” taller than I)!

Fast forward (exactly) two years later, on May 21, 2023, Chris surprised me while out to lunch with my parents! He flew in for less than 24 hours to celebrate our 2 year anniversary (or so I thought). (Chris has been working out of town for several weeks). We drove to a special park in Houston for a walk and gave a “random” guitar player money and stepped back to see what he would sing. He began playing “Beautiful Crazy” (one of our favorite songs) and I instantly knew it was no longer random. Then Chris got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! And I joyfully said YES!

Chris’s Side:
Elizabeth and I met on an online dating app called Hinge. (We matched on Tinder first, but I could tell she was the type to wife-up instead of a weekend fling, so we moved everything over to something more serious… JK) I messaged her several times and she would respond, then leave me hanging for days at a time. Apparently, she works and has other life events that did not involve checking her dating app, so I let it slide. After several weeks of sporadic chatting, I was pretty sure this babe was going to drift away, but late on a Thursday evening, I got a message from her asking if I still wanted to meet up the next evening, and of course I said yes.

So we ended up meeting at a Mexican restaurant, but when I arrived, there were 50 people standing outside on the wait list. I was upset because it seemed like we would have to go somewhere else, but I put my name down on the list anyway after being told it was a 1+ hour wait. But within 5 minutes, I got a text that a table was ready! It happened to be at the bar seating, so I sat and told Elizabeth where to find me. She came in like an angel from the clouds and sat down next to me. We were at the end of the bar with a large post behind us, so it actually felt a little cozy and romantic. We had a great time (obviously), great conversation, chemistry all over the place. We closed the place down, but were not done for the night, so we decided to go to another spot with some live music. I stood up for the first time since meeting her and I think that’s when she truly fell for me, seeing my height. I had my 6’6” height on the app, but apparently people don’t always tell the truth on the internet? Anyway, she literally swooned when she looked at me and I was worried she might faint, but she kept it together and stayed upright.

We made it to the other location (The Rustic). The rest, as they say, is history. Two years later, bought the ring, proposed super romantically, now getting to marry the sweetest, prettiest, smartest gal I’ve ever met.
